In section 3 of the Pressure Injury Guidelines, patients identified as high risk (see section 2 in the Pressure Injury Guidelines) on alternating air pressure support surfaces. [Recommendation]. High-quality evidence supports this recommendation: a Random Control Trial comparing interface pressures of an AP Overlay with gel pad vs gel pad alone from Neo et al. and a peer-reviewed article from Karg et al. describing the effects on perfusion of an OR Table overlay with AP3.
